Tea is one of the simplest medicines we have. In Zen Buddhism, Chinese Medicine and Daoist practice, tea has long been used to support clarity, digestion, circulation, and the capacity to remain present in meditation. It is a way of listening. A way of learning how the elements move through the body when we slow down enough to feel them.
How you relate to yourself sets the foundation for how you relate to everything else.
In Jen’s tea ceremonies, we sit with ancient, old-growth leaves of Camellia sinensis to deeply honour the present moment, drop into the heart space and open into our own wisdom. The primary medicinal properties of tea is that she opens the heart, and brightens the eyes. And so - we give ourselves the opportunity to remember our own innate wisdom, quietly waiting beneath the noise.
Ceremonial-grade teas are chosen from wild, old-growth forests and thriving permaculture gardens - leaves lovingly harvested from living trees long revered by the communities who tend them. Tea infused with Spirit. Leaves that carry the intelligence of time.
Here we learn to still ourselves.
We become attuned to the extraordinary in the ordinary, and open to the sacred nature of reality that exists right here, right now.
Private Ceremonies
Each tea gathering is responsive. There is no script.
Sometimes people arrive tired, scattered, or holding a lot. Others arrive curious or already settled. Tea meets all of it. Through taste, warmth, aroma, and rhythm - the nervous system downshifts. You may notice your breath slow and your senses sharpen. Your emotions soften or clarify. There is a sense of being more inside yourself. You are always in choice - how present you want to be, how much you want to engage, when to rest back. Tea opens a door and waits.
Tea can be served privately or in small groups, in your home or a chosen space.
It integrates seamlessly into retreat containers - opening the day as a quiet orienting practice, or offered later as a space to integrate what has been moving. Optional check-ins allow people to name what’s present without pressure to perform or share more than feels right. The tone can be ceremonial or simple, structured or fluid.
Tea doesn’t require a reason, but it’s beautiful when used to mark one.
Seasonal or moon transitions. Weddings, birthdays and thresholds. Times of change, integration, parting or pause. At its core, tea is an invitation to arrive.
